PREP WORK
To start the ground work for this initiative, I approached Temasek Poly staff to organize a sharing session on what we aim to do for their students, and how it will help them. I partnered with Ray Paleg, an active APAC recruiter to give the lectuers an idea of what kind of candidates Google is looking for. 20 staff including directors signed up for the session.
We gave a great overview of what Google does and the roles available to give an idea of where they could see themselves be. Backed with a backstory of an actual alumni from the same school, our presenter shared his journey of how he ended in Google after he graduated from Temasek Polytechnic.
Hearing too much about the awesomeness of Google may be overwhelming, we jumps in to assure students not to be intimidated, and shared techniques on handling confidence and ways to overcome imposter syndrome.
An alumnus of the same school shared her path towards Google while she braves through multiple changes in her career. It details the expectations one has to have for work by building upon their soft skills, with a mini-workshop that guides them on mapping their career goals.

PORTFOLIO TRAINING SESSION
Crafted a portfolio review session tips to guide reviewers on how to handle different students scenario, and what they can focus on to help on each student on the group they are assigned with.

On top of dedicating time for training, volunteers were grouped up with students and ran their own review sessions to help guide and advance their portfolio.

THE IMPACT
India: Launched risk warning messages during Payflow, significantly reduced the number of P2P transactions to scammers by 25% when warning is shown.
Better awareness for multiple teams on initiative to grow further: Payments Design team, NBU Foundations team, People Operations, Eng, Security, and a wide range of teams globally helped pull this off.
Continued effort of Championship Initiative led by other Googlers to own the cause and reach out to more students.
